Dell 13th Gen 2.0 TPM

Refurbished Dell K98XH TPM 2.0 module, the plug-in TPM 2.0 for Dell 13th gen PowerEdge system boards. A Dell TPM is a plug-in module that generates and stores keys, passwords and certificates in hardware, the anchor for BitLocker and pre-boot measurements. Dell states that once installed it is cryptographically bound to that system board and cannot be moved to another server.

Compatibility

K98XH is Dell's 13th gen TPM 2.0 daughterboard; Dell support maps M48YR to the same card. It plugs into the 13th gen TPM connector; 14th gen boards take FMYG3, and 15th gen boards take a different module. When to Choose This

Choose K98XH for any new 13th gen BitLocker or measured-boot deployment and for audits that ask for TPM 2.0, such as NIST, CMMC, HIPAA and PCI DSS work. Choose 7HGKK, the TPM 1.2 module, only to match servers already provisioned on 1.2. Fair warning: listings sometimes sell 7HGKK as 2.0; check the part number, because the module cannot be moved once bound.

Installation Notes

With the server off, seat the module on the TPM connector, then enable TPM Security in System Setup, which ships off. Clearing the TPM erases all keys stored in it, so export BitLocker recovery keys before any board or BIOS work.
