Dell Broadcom 57810S 10GbE Dual-Port Mezzanine NIC for Blade Servers

Refurbished Dell Broadcom 57810S dual-port 10GbE, a blade mezzanine card for the fabric B or C mezzanine slot in Dell PowerEdge blade servers. A blade NDC supplies a Dell blade's LOM ports on fabric A; a mezzanine card adds ports on fabric B or C. Both connect through the chassis midplane, so the I/O module in the matching fabric decides what links up.

Compatibility

This is a mezzanine card, not an NDC: it seats in the blade's fabric B or C mezzanine connector and does not replace the onboard NDC. Match the card to your blade model, then check the chassis I/O modules in that fabric's two slots. Both must be Ethernet modules, and 10GbE modules for the ports to run at 10GbE; a Fibre Channel or InfiniBand module in that fabric will not pass this card's traffic. When to Choose This

Pick the 57810S mezzanine when a blade needs a second 10GbE fabric for iSCSI or FCoE storage, kept apart from the LAN on fabric A, with full hardware offload and NPAR partitions. If the storage network is plain Ethernet with no offload in play, the Intel X520 mezzanine does the job on a simpler driver.

Installation Notes

Set NPAR and the iSCSI or FCoE personality per port in System Setup device settings. FCoE also needs DCB on the fabric I/O modules.
