About this part
Refurbished Dell HBA330 PCIe Low Profile, a 12 Gb/s non-RAID host bus adapter for a standard PCIe slot in Dell 13th and 14th gen PowerEdge servers. The HBA330 is Dell's PERC 9 era host bus adapter, built on the LSI SAS3008 with 8 lanes of 12 Gb/s SAS and no cache. It passes every drive straight to the operating system for vSAN, Storage Spaces Direct, Ceph and ZFS.

Compatibility
This is the adapter version with a low profile bracket: it takes a PCIe 3.0 x8 slot and connects to the drive backplane by internal SAS cable, for towers and entry racks without a mini PERC slot. It does not fit the integrated mini slot; that is the HBA330 Mini Mono. Backplane cables are chassis parts and are not included. Some later R540 builds shipped PERC 11 cards; do not mix PERC 11 with this PERC 9 era HBA in one system. Browse matching parts for the Dell PowerEdge R440.
When to Choose This
Choose the HBA330 adapter for tower and entry rack builds headed for ZFS, Ceph, vSAN or Storage Spaces Direct, where the operating system wants raw disks. For a hardware RAID 1 boot volume, the H330 does the job; for RAID 5 or 6 with write-back cache, the H730P. Do not buy it expecting to build an array in the controller BIOS: it has no RAID engine.
