Dell PERC H730 RAID for Blade Servers

Refurbished Dell PERC H730 Mini Blade with 1 GB NV cache, a RAID controller for the integrated storage controller slot in Dell PowerEdge blade servers. The PERC H730 belongs to Dell's PERC 9 family, built on the LSI SAS3108 RAID-on-chip with 1 GB of battery-backed non-volatile cache. It runs write-back RAID 5, 6 and 60 on 12 Gb/s SAS, one step below the 2 GB H730P.

Compatibility

This is the mini blade board for the storage controller slot inside a Dell PowerEdge blade server; it does not fit a rack server's mini PERC slot or a PCIe slot. Write-back runs only while the battery is present and healthy, so confirm the blade's battery and battery cable are in place. Drive cabling stays with the blade. When to Choose This

Choose the H730 Mini Blade for a blade that keeps a RAID 1 or RAID 5 set on its own drives and wants write-back cache behind it. The H730P Mini Blade doubles the cache to 2 GB on the same chip and is the one we quote for write-heavy local work. For a plain boot mirror with data on shared storage, the H330 Mini Blade is enough.

Installation Notes

When this card replaces a failed controller, import the existing arrays as a foreign configuration (press F at boot or use the controller BIOS) instead of creating new virtual disks over them. Connect the battery cable before first boot.
