Dell PERC H730p RAID for Blade Servers

Refurbished Dell PERC H730P Mini Blade with 2 GB NV cache, a RAID controller for the integrated storage controller slot in Dell PowerEdge blade servers. The PERC H730P belongs to Dell's PERC 9 family, built on the LSI SAS3108 RAID-on-chip with 2 GB of battery-backed non-volatile cache. It is the write-back controller for parity arrays, databases and busy virtual machine stores on local drives.

Compatibility

This is the mini blade board for the storage controller slot inside a Dell PowerEdge blade server; it does not fit a rack server's mini PERC slot or a PCIe slot. Write-back runs only while the battery is present and healthy, so confirm the battery and its cable are in place before trusting the cache. Drive cabling stays with the blade. When to Choose This

Choose the H730P Mini Blade when a blade keeps databases or VM storage on its local drives and needs write-back cache behind RAID 1, 5 or 10. It doubles the H730's 1 GB cache on the same chip. For a boot mirror with data on shared storage, the H330 Mini Blade is enough.

Installation Notes

When this card replaces a failed controller, import the existing arrays as a foreign configuration (press F at boot or use the controller BIOS) instead of creating new virtual disks over them. Connect the battery cable before first boot.
