Refurbished Dell B15 rail kit, the 2U drop-in and stab-in rail for the Dell 14th gen PowerEdge R840 four-socket server, rail identifier B15. Dell matches rails to servers by rail identifier, so the A or B code is what has to fit your chassis, not the server name. Sliding rails pull the server out of the rack for service, while static rails fit more rack types but hold the chassis in place.

Compatibility
The R840 packs four sockets into 2U and carries its own rail identifier; the B6 kit from the two-socket 2U servers does not fit it. The B15 is a combo kit: drop-in in square-hole and unthreaded round-hole 4-post racks, where it slides for service, and stab-in where the rack is threaded. Dell sold the same kit under several part numbers, all interchangeable. Check cabinet depth: the R840 is a deep chassis and the rear cabling needs clearance behind the rail ends. When to Choose This
Choose this kit for any R840 going into a standard 4-post cabinet; it is the Dell rail for the chassis and the only one that gives the service slide. If the server is going into a threaded rack, the same kit installs as a static rail, so plan to unrack for lid-off work there. Fair warning: order by the B15 identifier, not by the 2U label, or you will receive a two-socket rail that does not reach the R840 mounting points.
