Refurbished enterprise 2.4TB 10K SAS hard drive, the largest 2.5-inch 10K drive we stock, for SFF SAS bays in Dell PowerEdge and HPE ProLiant servers. Refurbished enterprise SAS hard drives are the capacity tier of a server, previously deployed and tested, and we sell them by capacity, spindle speed and form factor rather than by brand because the manufacturer varies by lot. They run on any PERC, Smart Array or HBA with a SAS backplane, at the link speed the controller and backplane negotiate.

Compatibility

This is a SAS drive, so it needs a hardware PERC, Smart Array or HBA and a SAS backplane; onboard SATA ports and SATA-only software RAID will not run it. In a chassis built with 3.5-inch bays it needs a 2.5-to-3.5 adapter carrier. Carriers do not cross over: Dell 13th gen trays differ from 14th to 16th gen trays, and HPE uses its own carriers, so we match the tray to your chassis. When to Choose This

The 2.4TB 10K is for 2.5-inch chassis that need the most capacity per bay, such as a 24-bay R740xd running file shares or VM storage. It holds twice the 1.2TB per bay: fewer drives, but longer rebuilds, so we quote RAID 6 or RAID 10 on large sets. For pure capacity, 3.5-inch nearline drives cost less per terabyte.

Installation Notes

To boot from a volume above 2 TB, use UEFI and a GPT partition table. On PERC, clear any foreign configuration before adding the drive to a new virtual disk.
