It needs a 3.5-inch LFF bay; servers configured only with 2.5-inch bays have no place for it. As a SAS drive it needs a hardware PERC, Smart Array or HBA and a SAS backplane. The carrier must match: Dell 13th gen LFF trays do not fit 14th to 16th gen bays, and HPE carriers are not interchangeable with Dell, so we match the tray to your server. When to Choose This

This is a named part, not a mixed lot: pick it when you want one known model across a large archive, backup or object store. Seagate rates it for 550 TB per year of workload. We do not quote RAID 5 for an array of 24TB disks; even at its 285 MB/s peak a rebuild takes close to a full day, so RAID 6 or RAID 10 is our quote. The 20TB costs less.

Seagate ships it as 512e; Fast Format converts it to 4Kn in the field. Keep one sector format across an array, and boot it with UEFI and GPT.
