This 2.5-inch SAS SSD needs a SAS controller and SAS backplane, the same ones that run SAS hard drives; SATA-only ports and NVMe-only bays cannot run it. Expect 12 Gb/s on 12 Gb/s PERC and Smart Array controllers and a negotiated lower rate on older SAS hardware. A 3.5-inch bay needs a 2.5-to-3.5 adapter carrier. When to Choose This

The 800GB suits caching, log volumes and small VM datastores where a 10K spindle is too slow and the budget is tight. There is no New 800GB in our range; if you want an unused drive with full service life, the New 960GB SAS SSD is the nearest capacity. Endurance and model vary by lot, so do not plan on a published DWPD figure.
