About this part
Refurbished HPE 640FLR-SFP28 dual-port 10/25GbE, a Mellanox FlexibleLOM adapter for the FlexibleLOM slot in HPE ProLiant Gen9 and Gen10 servers. FlexibleLOM is HPE's mezzanine LOM format for ProLiant rack servers: the card sits on its own connector, so its ports never cost a PCIe slot. One fits per server, and swapping it later changes port speed or media.

Compatibility
The 640FLR-SFP28 seats on the FlexibleLOM connector only and takes the one FlexibleLOM position the server has. It is the fastest Ethernet FlexibleLOM HPE lists for Gen10, where the slot is rated for NICs up to 25GbE. If you run it on the DL580 Gen9, Wake-on-LAN through a FlexibleLOM is unsupported. Gen10 Plus servers moved to an OCP 3.0 slot and take no FlexibleLOM card. SFP28 optics and DACs are sold separately; match them to the switch side. When to Choose This
Choose the 640FLR-SFP28 for hosts on a 25GbE leaf, or for 10GbE today where a 25GbE switch refresh is planned, since the ports run at either speed. Versus the 562FLR-SFP+, it buys 2.5 times the bandwidth per port in the same slot. For InfiniBand or 40/50GbE, look at the 544+FLR-QSFP or 547FLR-QSFP. The trap: SFP28 at 25GbE needs 25G-rated DACs or optics; 10G SFP+ optics hold the port at 10GbE.
