Refurbished Intel Xeon E-2224, a 4-core, 4-thread processor for LGA 1151 one-socket servers. The Xeon E-2200 series is the Coffee Lake Refresh of Intel's entry server line on LGA 1151 and the C246 chipset, adding an eight-core top bin and higher turbo clocks over two DDR4-2666 ECC channels and 16 PCIe 3.0 lanes. It suits single-socket file, web and small virtualization servers.

Compatibility
This is a Coffee Lake Refresh E-2200 part for C246 boards. It shares the LGA 1151 socket with the Xeon E3-1200 v5 and v6, but their C236 boards will not run it. The Dell PowerEdge R240, R340 and T340 take one processor with unbuffered ECC DDR4 UDIMMs only, four slots and 64 GB maximum at up to DDR4-2666; RDIMMs are not supported. When to Choose This
The E-2224 is the entry E-2200 part: four cores, four threads, 3.4 GHz base and 4.6 GHz turbo at 71 W. It fits file, print, backup and edge roles with few concurrent users. For a virtualization host, the six-core E-2236 brings twelve threads and runs several VMs where this part struggles. The 16-core Windows Server licensing minimum applies either way.
