Refurbished Intel Xeon E5-2695 v3, a 14-core, 28-thread processor for LGA 2011-3 two-socket servers. The Xeon E5-2600 v3 series is Intel's Haswell-EP generation for the Grantley (C610) platform, with four DDR4 channels and 40 PCIe 3.0 lanes per CPU. It is an older platform that still earns its place in fleet capacity adds and lab builds.

Compatibility
This Haswell-EP part fits LGA 2011-3 Grantley boards only, not LGA 2011 (E5 v2) or LGA 3647 sockets. It runs memory at up to DDR4-2133, stepping down at 3 DIMMs per channel. The R530 has 12 DIMM slots, not 24. At 120 W it stays on HPE's standard heatsink; the high-performance heatsink starts above 120 W. v3 and v4 cannot be mixed in one server. When to Choose This
The 2695 v3 is the most cores you can run in a 120 W v3 envelope at a usable clock, 14 cores at 2.3 GHz, which keeps it on standard heatsinks in every server it fits. It suits dense virtualization and mixed application hosts. The E5-2697 v3 adds 300 MHz at 145 W. On v4, the E5-2680 v4 gives the same 14 cores at 2.4 GHz with DDR4-2400, as long as both sockets move to v4.
