Refurbished Intel Xeon Gold 5118, a 12-core, 24-thread processor for LGA 3647 two-socket servers. The Xeon Gold 5100 series is the mainstream Gold tier of Intel's 1st Gen Xeon Scalable (Skylake-SP) family, with six DDR4-2400 memory channels and 48 PCIe 3.0 lanes per CPU. It gives up memory speed and one UPI link against the Gold 6100 series for a lower power point.

Compatibility
This Skylake-SP part fits LGA 3647 boards only, not the older LGA 2011-3 sockets. The CPU caps memory at DDR4-2400, even with faster DIMMs. The HPE ProLiant DL360 and DL380 Gen10 run it on the standard heatsink. With two UPI links, not three, it is a two-socket choice; four-socket Dell PowerEdge R840 and R940 builds call for Gold 6100 or Platinum. When to Choose This
The 5118 is the workhorse 12-core Gold for virtualization and mid-size SQL at 105 W. Memory stays at DDR4-2400; for a memory-bandwidth bound workload, the Gold 6126 runs 12 cores on DDR4-2666 at 125 W. The Gold 5120 adds two cores at the same power. Step-up: on Dell 14th gen boards, 2nd Gen (Cascade Lake) parts such as the Gold 5218 drop in after a BIOS update.
