The Xeon Gold 5300 series is the mainstream Gold tier of Intel's 3rd Gen Xeon Scalable (Ice Lake-SP) family. It trades memory speed for price: DDR4-2933 across eight channels, with 64 PCIe 4.0 lanes per CPU.

This is an Ice Lake-SP part for LGA 4189 boards only; it does not fit the older LGA 3647 sockets. At 26 cores it sits under the 32-core cap of the cost-optimized Dell PowerEdge R650xs and R750xs, which run one DIMM per channel. In the 1U Dell PowerEdge R650, processors above 165 W take Dell's T-type heatsink. Memory runs at DDR4-2933, set by the CPU. On the HPE ProLiant DL360 and DL380 Gen10 Plus, HPE requires the high-performance heatsink kit P27095-B21 for any processor of 150 W or more. The 5320 is the most cores you get at Gold 5300 pricing: 26 per socket, 52 per node. It fits VMware and Hyper-V hosts, container nodes and VDI where thread count leads and DDR4-2933 is enough. Choose the Gold 6338 when memory bandwidth matters; it adds six cores and DDR4-3200 for 20 W more. Choose the Gold 5318Y if you want Speed Select profiles at 165 W.
