The Xeon Gold 5400 series is the mainstream Gold tier of Intel's 4th Gen Xeon Scalable (Sapphire Rapids, 2023) family for LGA 4677. It trades memory speed for price: eight DDR5 channels at up to 4400 MT/s, with 80 PCIe 5.0 lanes per CPU.

This is a 4th Gen Xeon Scalable (Sapphire Rapids) part for LGA 4677 boards only; it does not fit the LGA 4189 or LGA 3647 sockets of earlier generations. At 165 W it runs on the standard heatsink in the 1U Dell PowerEdge R660; Dell calls for high-performance Gold fans only in dense storage layouts such as the 10-bay NVMe build. The 5418N is Intel's two-socket networking bin: 24 cores at 165 W for NFV, virtual network functions and edge packet processing. For a general-purpose host, the Gold 5418Y has the same 24 cores, a 2.0 GHz base and faster DDR5-4400 memory. The trap is the memory ceiling: DDR5-4000 leaves bandwidth on the table for databases and analytics.
