Compatibility
This is an Ice Lake-SP part for LGA 4189 boards only; it does not fit the older LGA 3647 sockets. Unlike most Gold 6300 parts, it runs memory at DDR4-2933, not DDR4-3200; the CPU sets the speed. At 28 cores it fits the cost-optimized Dell PowerEdge R650xs and R750xs under their 32-core cap. In the 1U Dell PowerEdge R650, processors above 165 W take Dell's T-type heatsink. On the HPE ProLiant DL360 and DL380 Gen10 Plus, HPE requires the high-performance heatsink kit P27095-B21 for any processor of 150 W or more. When to Choose This
The 6330 is a core-count value part: 28 cores per socket at 205 W for VMware clusters, container hosts and build farms. Its 2.0 GHz base and DDR4-2933 memory make it a poor per-core licensing pick; the Gold 6348 gives the same 28 cores at 2.6 GHz with DDR4-3200. At the same 205 W, the Gold 6338 adds four cores and full memory speed.
