Compatibility
This is an Ice Lake-SP part for LGA 4189 boards only; it does not fit the older LGA 3647 sockets. At 24 cores it fits the cost-optimized Dell PowerEdge R650xs and R750xs under their 32-core cap; those boards run one DIMM per channel. In the 1U Dell PowerEdge R650, processors above 165 W take Dell's T-type heatsink. On the HPE ProLiant DL360 and DL380 Gen10 Plus, HPE requires the high-performance heatsink kit P27095-B21 for any processor of 150 W or more. When to Choose This
The 6336Y is the 24-core Gold 6300 part with Speed Select: run all 24 cores at 2.4 GHz base, or switch profiles to fewer cores at higher clocks for a licensed workload. It suits mixed VMware clusters and database hosts that may be re-tasked. If you only need raw cores, the Gold 6338 gives 32 at 205 W; if you need clock at this core count, the Gold 6342 runs 2.8 GHz base at 230 W.
