This is an Ice Lake-SP part for LGA 4189 boards only; it does not fit the older LGA 3647 sockets. The T suffix marks Intel's extended-reliability SKU, rated for a higher case temperature and long-life deployments. Not every server lists it, so confirm your board's CPU support list includes the 6338T before ordering. Memory runs at full DDR4-3200 across eight channels. When to Choose This

The 6338T is for servers that must run for years in warm or poorly cooled places: edge sites, telecom rooms and industrial installations. It gives 24 cores and full DDR4-3200 at 165 W with a higher thermal rating. In a cooled data center the T rating buys nothing; the Gold 6336Y gives 24 cores with Speed Select, and the Gold 5318Y gives 24 cores at the same 165 W.
