Compatibility
This is a 4th Gen Xeon Scalable (Sapphire Rapids) part for LGA 4677 boards only; it does not fit the LGA 4189 or LGA 3647 sockets of earlier generations. At 185 W it runs on the standard heatsink in the 1U Dell PowerEdge R660; the Dell PowerEdge R660xs and R760xs need their high-performance heatsink at this TDP. The xs boards carry 16 DIMM slots, one per channel, so fill all eight channels per CPU for full bandwidth. Memory runs at DDR5-4800 with this CPU, whatever the DIMM rating. When to Choose This
The 6426Y is the per-core licensing pick in the 6400 series: 16 cores at 2.5 GHz base and 4.1 GHz turbo with full DDR5-4800, for SQL Server, Oracle and other software billed per core.
