Compatibility
This is a 4th Gen Xeon Scalable (Sapphire Rapids) part for LGA 4677 boards only; it does not fit the LGA 4189 or LGA 3647 sockets of earlier generations. At 195 W it needs the L-type heatsink and Dell's high-performance Gold fans in the 1U Dell PowerEdge R660. Memory runs at DDR5-4800 with this CPU, whatever the DIMM rating. When to Choose This
The 6434 is the frequency part: eight cores at 3.7 GHz base, built for per-core licensed databases, EDA tools and trading applications where single-thread speed is the bill. The Gold 5415+ is the cheaper eight-core alternative at 2.9 GHz and 150 W. The warning: 195 W for eight cores is expensive in watts per core, so do not buy it for a VM host.
