Compatibility
This is an Ice Lake-SP part for LGA 4189 boards only; it does not fit the older LGA 3647 sockets. At 205 W, the 1U Dell PowerEdge R650 takes Dell's T-type heatsink for it, with the fan tier set by Dell's thermal restriction table for your drive layout; the 2U R750 has more headroom. Using its SGX enclave needs SGX enabled in BIOS. On the HPE ProLiant DL360 and DL380 Gen10 Plus, HPE requires the high-performance heatsink kit P27095-B21 for any processor of 150 W or more. In a two-socket build, run a matched pair: the same SKU in both sockets. Browse matching parts for the HPE ProLiant DL360 Gen10 Plus.
When to Choose This
The S suffix marks Intel's security SKU, with a 512 GB SGX enclave per CPU for confidential computing: encrypted in-memory processing for regulated data, key management and secure analytics. That enclave size is the reason to buy it. If your software does not use SGX, the Platinum 8352Y gives the same 32 cores, clocks and 205 W with Speed Select profiles, and is the more flexible part.
