Refurbished Intel Xeon Platinum 8380, a 40-core, 80-thread processor for LGA 4189 two-socket servers. The Xeon Platinum 8300 series is the top bin of Intel's 3rd Gen Xeon Scalable (Ice Lake-SP) family: up to 40 cores per socket, eight DDR4-3200 memory channels and 64 PCIe 4.0 lanes per CPU.

Compatibility
This is an Ice Lake-SP part for LGA 4189 boards only; it does not fit the older LGA 3647 sockets. At 270 W it sits at the top of the thermal envelope. In the 1U Dell PowerEdge R650 it takes Dell's T-type heatsink and the high-performance gold fan set; check Dell's thermal restriction table against your drive configuration. The 2U R750 has more headroom. On the HPE ProLiant DL360 and DL380 Gen10 Plus, HPE requires the high-performance heatsink kit P27095-B21 for any processor of 150 W or more. When to Choose This
The 8380 is the top Ice Lake-SP bin: 40 cores per socket, 80 per node, with full DDR4-3200 and 60 MB of cache. It fits maximum-density virtualization, HPC and large in-memory databases where core count per node sets the rack plan. If you are licensed per core, it is the wrong pick; the Gold 6348 gives 28 faster cores. Two of these draw 540 W before memory and drives.
