Refurbished Intel Xeon Platinum 8470, a 52-core, 104-thread processor for LGA 4677 two-socket servers. The Xeon Platinum 8400 series is the top bin of Intel's 4th Gen Xeon Scalable (Sapphire Rapids, 2023) family for LGA 4677: up to 56 cores per socket, eight DDR5-4800 memory channels and 80 PCIe 5.0 lanes per CPU. It is built for dense virtualization, large databases and AI inference on the AMX matrix engine.

Compatibility
This is a 4th Gen Xeon Scalable (Sapphire Rapids) part for LGA 4677 boards only; it does not fit the LGA 4189 or LGA 3647 sockets of earlier generations. At 350 W it sits at the top of the platform envelope: in the 1U Dell PowerEdge R660, Dell supports it only in the no-backplane and 8-bay 2.5-inch configurations with a 30°C inlet ceiling, on the L-type heatsink and high-performance Gold fans. When to Choose This
The 8470 is the high-core Platinum part: 52 cores and 105 MB of cache per socket, 104 per node, for consolidation, HPC and large in-memory databases. The Platinum 8480+ adds four cores and the accelerator set at the same 350 W; the 8460Y+ gives 40 cores at 300 W with fewer thermal limits. The trap is per-core licensing and the drive-layout restriction above.
