About this part
Refurbished Intel Xeon Silver 4314, a 16-core, 32-thread processor for LGA 4189 two-socket servers. The Xeon Silver 4300 series is the entry tier of Intel's 3rd Gen Xeon Scalable (Ice Lake-SP) family, with eight memory channels at DDR4-2666 and 64 PCIe 4.0 lanes per CPU. It is the cost-led choice for infrastructure roles where core count matters more than memory bandwidth.

Compatibility
This is an Ice Lake-SP part for LGA 4189 boards only; it does not fit the older LGA 3647 sockets. At 16 cores and 135 W it fits the value Dell PowerEdge R450 and R550, which top out at 24 cores per socket, plus the xs and full R650 and R750, on the standard heatsink in the R650. Memory runs at DDR4-2666 with any Silver 4300 processor; faster DIMMs buy nothing. In a two-socket build, run a matched pair: the same SKU in both sockets. Browse matching parts for the Dell PowerEdge R550.
When to Choose This
The 4314 is the middle of the Silver line: 16 cores at 135 W for file and backup servers, small VMware clusters and VDI pilots on a budget. Against the Silver 4316, it gives up four cores to save 15 W and cost. The trap is memory bandwidth; analytics and in-memory databases want the Gold 5318Y and its DDR4-2933.
