The Xeon Silver 4500 series is the entry tier of Intel's 5th Gen Xeon Scalable (Emerald Rapids, 2024) family for LGA 4677, with eight DDR5-4400 memory channels and 80 PCIe 5.0 lanes per CPU. It is the cost-led choice for infrastructure roles, one memory-speed step above the Silver 4400 series.

Compatibility
This is a 5th Gen Xeon Scalable (Emerald Rapids) part for LGA 4677 boards only; it does not fit LGA 4189 or LGA 3647 sockets, and the system BIOS should be current before the swap. At 150 W it runs on the standard heatsink in the Dell PowerEdge R660, R660xs and R760xs. The xs boards carry 16 DIMM slots, one per channel, so fill all eight channels per CPU for full bandwidth. When to Choose This
The 4510 is the 5th Gen infrastructure part: 12 cores at 2.4 GHz base with DDR5-4400, for domain controllers, backup targets, file servers and light virtualization. Against the 4th Gen Silver 4410Y it gains 400 MHz of base clock and faster memory at the same 150 W. If you need more cores, the Silver 4514Y gives 16 at 150 W on a 2.0 GHz base.
