This 2.5-inch SAS drive needs a SAS controller and SAS backplane; a SATA-only port will not run it. It links at 12 Gb/s on 12 Gb/s PERC and Smart Array controllers and at 6 Gb/s on older SAS hardware. A 3.5-inch bay needs a 2.5-to-3.5 adapter carrier.
