Compatibility

This 3.5-inch LFF SAS drive fits 3.5-inch bays only; a chassis built with 2.5-inch bays cannot take it. It needs a SAS controller and SAS backplane, links at 12 Gb/s on 12 Gb/s PERC and Smart Array controllers, and runs at 6 Gb/s on older SAS hardware. When to Choose This

Use the 10TB for backup repositories, archive shares and object storage where cost per terabyte beats IOPS. On 10TB spindles we will not quote RAID 5; the rebuild after a failure runs long enough that a second fault takes the whole array, so RAID 6 or RAID 10 is what we build. New gives you an unused drive with its full service life ahead; the refurbished 10TB is cheaper per terabyte.
