This 3.5-inch LFF SAS drive fits 3.5-inch bays only; a chassis built with 2.5-inch bays cannot take it. It needs a SAS controller and SAS backplane, links at 12 Gb/s on 12 Gb/s PERC and Smart Array controllers, and runs at 6 Gb/s on older SAS hardware. When to Choose This

The 16TB suits backup targets, Veeam repositories and cold file tiers that need the most terabytes per LFF bay. Plan RAID 6 or RAID 10, not RAID 5: we do not quote RAID 5 on large spinning disk arrays because a 16TB rebuild keeps the array one fault from data loss for a long window. On 15th gen, RAID 6 needs a PERC H755 or H745; the H355 stops at RAID 10. Choose New for full service life; the refurbished 16TB is the budget pick.
