New enterprise 18TB SAS hard drive, the top capacity in our new 3.5-inch SAS line, for LFF bays in Dell 13th to 16th gen PowerEdge and HPE Gen9 to Gen10 Plus ProLiant servers. These are unused drives from commodity enterprise lines, sourced by availability, so the brand on the label varies while capacity, spindle speed, interface and form factor stay fixed. They suit buyers who want spindles with their full service life ahead, on any SAS-capable PERC, Smart Array or HBA.

Compatibility

This 3.5-inch LFF SAS drive fits 3.5-inch bays only; a chassis built with 2.5-inch bays cannot take it. It needs a SAS controller and SAS backplane, links at 12 Gb/s on 12 Gb/s PERC and Smart Array controllers, and runs at 6 Gb/s on older SAS hardware. Dell 3.5-inch trays for 13th gen differ from 14th to 16th gen trays, HPE LFF carriers are their own part, and we match the carrier to your chassis. When to Choose This

Pick the 18TB when bay count is the limit: archive and backup builds needing the most raw capacity per slot. Large spinning disks and RAID 5 do not mix in our quotes; an 18TB rebuild leaves the array unprotected against a second failure for a long window, so we quote RAID 6 or RAID 10. New means unused, full life ahead; the refurbished 18TB costs less.

Installation Notes

Boot from this drive needs GPT and UEFI mode. Check whether the lot is 512e or 4Kn before adding it to an existing virtual disk; keep one sector format per array.
