These are unused drives from commodity enterprise lines, sourced by availability, so the brand on the label varies while capacity, spindle speed, interface and form factor stay fixed. Compatibility

This 2.5-inch SAS drive needs a SAS controller and SAS backplane; a SATA-only port will not run it. It links at 12 Gb/s on 12 Gb/s PERC and Smart Array controllers and at 6 Gb/s on older SAS hardware. A 3.5-inch bay needs a 2.5-to-3.5 adapter carrier. When to Choose This

The 2.4TB 10K packs the most spinning capacity into a 2.5-inch bay, good for dense SFF chassis serving file shares, backup staging or VM images. The tradeoff is a longer rebuild than the 1.8TB and the same spindle IOPS, so keep it off latency-bound databases. New means unused, with its full service life ahead; the refurbished 2.4TB 10K trades that for cost.

Installation Notes

Above 2 TB, a single-drive boot volume needs a GPT partition table and UEFI boot mode; legacy BIOS with MBR cannot address the full 2.4 TB. The same applies to any virtual disk larger than 2 TB you boot from.
