New Enterprise 480GB SAS SSD 12Gb/s

New enterprise 480GB SAS SSD, a 12 Gb/s flash drive for 2.5-inch SAS bays in Dell 13th to 16th gen PowerEdge and HPE Gen9 to Gen10 Plus ProLiant servers. SAS SSDs are the enterprise flash tier for SAS backplanes: they use the same PERC, Smart Array and HBA controllers and the same bays as SAS hard drives, with the full-duplex SAS link and its error handling. They are the straightforward flash upgrade for an existing SAS array.

Specifications

Compatibility

A 2.5-inch SAS SSD fits any SAS-capable 2.5-inch bay on a PERC, Smart Array or HBA, the same bays and controllers as SAS hard drives; a SATA-only port or an NVMe-only bay will not run it. It links at 12 Gb/s on 12 Gb/s controllers and negotiates down on older SAS hardware. In a 3.5-inch bay it needs a 2.5-to-3.5 adapter carrier. Dell 13th gen trays differ from 14th to 16th gen trays, HPE uses its own carriers, and we match the tray to your chassis. Browse matching parts for the HPE ProLiant DL360 Gen9.

When to Choose This

The 480GB is sized for boot mirrors, hypervisor installs and small read-heavy volumes on a SAS array, where flash latency beats a 10K spindle. Endurance class, NAND and performance vary by lot, so if the workload needs a published DWPD rating, pick a branded SAS SSD such as the Samsung PM1643a. Choose New for an unused drive with its full service life ahead; the refurbished 480GB is the lower-cost route to the same capacity.
