SATA SSDs run on a 6 Gb/s SATA link that SAS and SATA controllers and backplanes all accept, which makes them the most widely compatible flash in a server. Choose the 960GB S4620 for mixed-use work: small databases, mail, logging and VM datastores with steady writes. Against the read-intensive S4520 960GB it carries 7.1 PBW instead of 5.4 PBW and 54K instead of 43K random write IOPS, with the same reads. For read-mostly volumes the S4520 is enough.
