New Kioxia 3.84 TB CD8P-R U.2 NVMe SSD, a read-intensive PCIe 5.0 drive built on BiCS FLASH TLC for NVMe-wired bays in Dell 14th, 15th and 16th gen servers. U.2 NVMe SSDs connect over four PCIe lanes instead of through a SAS or SATA controller, so they need an NVMe-wired bay and backplane; a SAS or SATA bay cannot run them. They are the low-latency, high-IOPS tier for databases, virtualization and caching, and a PCIe 4.0 or 5.0 drive runs at the PCIe generation the host bay provides.
