A 2.5-inch SATA drive at 6 Gb/s: it runs on onboard SATA ports, SAS controllers and HBAs, and on SAS or SATA backplanes, since SAS controllers accept SATA drives, but not in an NVMe-only bay. When to Choose This

Choose the 870 EVO 250 GB for a boot drive or a workstation OS volume. Samsung rates it 150 TBW and lists no power-loss protection, so it is a client drive, not for RAID write duty or databases. Sustained writes beyond its TurboWrite cache drop to 300 MB/s at this size. For production writes, the Samsung PM893 adds power-loss protection and 1 DWPD.
