The PERC H730P belongs to Dell's PERC 9 family, built on the LSI SAS3108 RAID-on-chip with 2 GB of battery-backed non-volatile cache. It is the write-back controller for parity arrays, databases and busy virtual machine stores on local drives.

The card plugs into a PCIe 3.0 x8 slot and reaches the drive backplane over two mini-SAS HD connectors; it is the adapter H730P and will not seat in an integrated mini PERC slot. The battery must be connected before write-back engages. Internal SAS cables belong to the chassis. Bracket height varies by part number, so tell us which one your slot takes.
