About this part
Refurbished Dell PERC H740P PCIe adapter with 8 GB NV cache, a RAID controller for a PCIe slot in Dell 14th gen PowerEdge servers. The PERC H740P belongs to Dell's PERC 10 family, built on the Broadcom SAS3508 RAID-on-chip with 8 GB of non-volatile cache. It is the production controller of the 14th gen PowerEdge line for write-heavy and transactional local storage.

Compatibility
This is the PCIe adapter H740P for servers whose PERC lives in a slot rather than a mini mono socket; it will not seat in a mini PERC socket. It needs a slot with x8 electrical lanes and the chassis PERC cable to the backplane, which stays with the server. Bracket height must suit the slot. It is a 14th gen controller: no H740P on 13th gen, and 15th gen servers moved to the H755 and PERC 11. Do not mix it with PERC 11 cards in one system. When to Choose This
Take the PCIe H740P for a tower or value rack server that will run production databases or a VM datastore on local disks: the 8 GB NV cache keeps RAID 5 and 6 write latency in check. For a file and print server or a boot mirror, the H730P with 2 GB or the cacheless H330 is enough. For vSAN or Storage Spaces Direct, choose the HBA330.
