The PERC H745 is the 4 GB non-volatile cache member of Dell's PERC 10 generation, built on the LSI 3516 RAID-on-chip with 16 internal SAS lanes. It brings parity RAID with write-back cache to front PERC bays one step below the H755.

Compatibility
The front-mount H745: it installs in the dedicated front controller position and takes its host link and power through chassis cables, so it never consumes a PCIe slot and will not fit one. The cables stay with the chassis. It links at PCIe 3.0 and runs SAS and SATA drives only, with no NVMe support. Dell sets a minimum firmware of 50.9.1-2905 for the H745, so update older cards before they go into production. The battery must be connected for write-back cache. When to Choose This
The H745 gives a 15th gen server hardware RAID 5, 6 and 10 with 4 GB of protected write cache, enough for mixed VM hosts and departmental databases. For heavier write traffic or a PCIe 4.0 host link, the H755 doubles the cache to 8 GB. If the build only needs a boot mirror, the cacheless H355 is the simpler card; for software-defined storage, take the HBA355i.
