Dell R640 High-Performance Heatsink/Fan Kit

Refurbished Dell C6R9H heatsink and fan kit for the processor and fan bays of Dell 14th gen PowerEdge R640 servers. Dell's R640 thermal table pairs 200 W and 205 W CPUs, plus the 150 W and 165 W frequency-optimized Gold 6144, 6146, 6244 and 6246, with the 1U 2-pipe heat sink and eight high performance fans. Other CPUs of 165 W and below run the standard heat sink.

C6R9H is sold as the R640's 1U high performance heatsink, the heat sink Dell's table lists for those hot CPUs. The R640 holds up to eight fans, and Dell does not support mixing standard and high performance fans. Single-processor builds with a hot CPU also need Dell's processor and DIMM blanks. When to Choose This

Choose this kit when an R640 moves to a 200 W or 205 W CPU or one of the four frequency-optimized Golds. The trap: a 150 W 6144 looks mid-range, yet Dell cools it like a 205 W part. Heatsinks without the high performance fans leave the job half done.

Installation Notes

Swap the full fan set in one shutdown; high performance fans carry an identifying label on top. Clean the processor lid and apply fresh thermal paste before seating each heatsink.
